BYOC

Thanks, Drazil, for today's BYOC, and a Happy Happy Friday to you all!!

1. Tell us something that you want to do or wish you could do but you continue not to do it for fear of judgement or failure or of what others may say or do?

For me, it's not one thing in particular but just things in general.  I wish I had the confidence to try something new when it sounds fun to me.  As it is, instead of being excited about it, I'm worried that it will put a spotlight on me in a way I'm uncomfortable with.  I hope someday I can work past that.

2. What’s your favorite pizza topping and brand?

It kinda depends on what I'm in the mood for.  Sometimes I like my pizzas decked out with goat cheese, kalamata olives, sauteed spinach, tomatoes, pesto, you name it!  Other times I would kill for a simple east coast-style pepperoni pizza.  The decked-out one I like to make myself at home, with homemade crust.  If I'm craving a pizzeria-style pepperoni, I go to East Coast Pizza or Dewey's.  I'm getting hungry just thinking about this.

3. If you could go back in time but only as far as five years – would you go or not go and why?

There have been some major painful events in my life over the last 5 years, and I've definitely done things that I'm not proud of, or would do differently given the chance.  It's tempting to say yes, but I can't.  I think everything that's happened has been a lesson for me in some way.  And I have learned SO MUCH about myself in the last several years.  I think I'm stronger now than I've ever been.  And it was almost 5 years ago that I met Charles, who is most definitely my soul mate, even though I never believed in that before meeting him.  What if I'd done something differently and we never wound up meeting?  I would never take that chance...I can't begin to imagine what my life would be like right now without him.  We help each other grow and give each other the confidence to take risks & step outside our comfort zones.

4. Who is your favorite Disney princess and why?

I've never really been that into Disney princesses, but if I had to pick one, I guess it'd be Cinderella.  That was always one of my favorite stories when I was little.  When it was adapted for Faerie Tale Theatre, my brother and I taped it and watched it over and over and over, etc.  I thought Shelley Duvall was so beautiful with her sparkly make-up!

5. Repeat Question – summarize your week!

Real life:  This week was a short one for me at work, since we were out on Monday & Tuesday in Chicago.  It was nice to get to shave a couple of days off the work week, but also stressful, in that it took way more effort and catch-up when we got back home.  I'm still not used to needing to put so much thought and planning into my days, but I'm getting better.

Blogland:  Fell far behind in blogland this week, and I'm still getting caught up.  Yesterday I swore I was going to use my lunch break to do that, but instead I gave my blog another face lift.  I couldn't seem to find a design that I really liked, but I think I finally did yesterday.  So you can relax now...I know you were all very concerned with the appearance of my blog.  Just breathe.

Tonight we're going to see Jurassic Park 3D in the theater (!!!!!!) and I am waaaay excited about it.  Tomorrow I'm testing out some new recipes with a friend.  I've been working on these recipes for a few days now and want to make sure they taste as good as my brain-stomach thinks they might!  Among them are some spicy black bean burgers, turkey-chipotle wrap and baked egg rolls.  If I like them, I'll gather the nutritional data and post them here.  Because there definitely aren't enough recipe resources for bandsters...yeah...

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!!

  1. Getting out of your comfort zone is super difficult! It's taken me a long time. Sometimes it's scary even! Love your answer to number 3. :) Have fun at the movies!

  2. Your recipes sound good! I like bean burgers when they hold together. I have a nice recipe for turkey burgers with black beans and southwestern spices that I should make again.

Don't ever worry about catching up on my blog when you fall behind--my posts are way too long!

I like the new blog design.

  3. I like the design too! I love The Oatmeal, I had never seen that one. Now I must go and procrastinate further on The Oatmeal :)
